arcus never gave in to the temptation of seeing technology as an end in itself. This merely leads to superfluous features and a perfection that exists, if at all, on paper. Today, the true art lies in fully understanding all the complexities of digital technology and using them in a measured way to enhance the enjoyment of music.
The ultimate task of a CD player is the best possible reproduction of the music recorded on a compact disc. And that’s exactly what the arcus First Class CD Player does in an unprecedented way.
The reason for this is the DCS (DiscControlSystem)®. This system, developed by arcus, calibrates to the CD being played. Since a CD often bears traces of use like scratches etc., CD players have an error correction facility to compensate for the reading gaps caused. The read music signal is constantly sent through an error correction switch. The error correction calculates an artificially produced signal for the missing signal and adds this artificially produced signal to the read music signal. Good in theory but in practice audible because of the poor sound. Up to now, error correction was constantly switched on in standard CD players in order to able to react to disturbances. Unfortunately, this also has an ongoing negative effect on the sound. Thanks to arcus DCS®, the CD player measures the quality of the CD during reading and can, in this way, switch the error correction on and off in an infinite number of stages. This means that in the case of a high quality CD, the error correction can be switched off opening the door to a sound quality never experienced before. What’s more, you can also play badly scratched or bent CDs because the error correction switches on fully. This means that CDs that are frequently rejected by other systems can now also be played on an arcus First Class CD Player.
arcus DCS® enables you to get the best possible sound from your CD player. This makes the arcus First Class CD Player the first CD player in the world to use this technology.
It goes without saying that every feature of the arcus First Class CD Player is more than convincing. State-of-the-art 24 bit, 96 kHz converter technology, a discreetly integrated audio output stage and an extremely stable mains adaptor with a toroidal transformer round off the image of this CD player. Equipped with the arcus DI® bus, the CD player offers a perfect operating concept in conjunction with other arcus First Class components.
